Gene Simmons in town

One of the great rock heroes of the 1970s is in town. KISS bassist Gene Simmons took a canal trip with his girlfriend former porn actress Shannon Tweed.

Architecture Day

It's Architecture Day this weekend. Many buildings usually closed to the public will be open. One of them is the Olympic Stadium, which can be visited on 26 June.

Dapper Market

The Dapper Market is a popular place. In 2007, it was voted Best Market in the Netherlands. Located in East, the market is on every day except Sundays.

Julidans

From 1 to 14 July, many local venues take part in Julidans the international contemporary dance festival. Among them are Vondelpark, Paradiso and Melkweg.

Van Gogh Museum

The Van Gogh Museum owns over 200 paintings, 500 drawings and over 750 letters by Vincent van Gogh. Among them are The Potato Eaters and The Sunflowers. Until July 4, it also hosts the Masters from the Museum Mesdag exhibition. From July 9, it will show works by French collector Jacques Villon on loan from the Rijksmuseum.

Toko to go

There is a new place for Asian food at Schiphol Plaza: toko to go. Here you can find al sorts of food like Rendang, Babi Ketjap, Ajam Ketjap and Babi Roedjak.

The studios of Endemol will also be for rent at the new accommodation in Southeast

Endemol has moved to the Bijlmer in Amsterdam. All parts of the media group will be located under the same roof. Six Endemol companies from across the country will be located here.

The Port of Amsterdam is the world's largest cocoa port. Warehousing firm Sitos Cacao boasts 100.000m2 Cocoa sheds. The company operates worldwide.

Yesterday, Corendon Airlines flew with an entirely female crew. During the flight there were no male emplyees on board.

Africa gives a boost to harbour installations

Ter Haak has become one of the largest dock companies in the port of Amsterdam. Despite the crisis the company continues to expand. The growth is due to subsidiary Cargo Company Ymond. Ter Haak has been located in the port of Amsterdam since 1911.
